Chef Symon won the Food Network’s Iron Chef Competition in 2007, is a favorite regular on the network’s Best Thing I Ever Ate, and is currently the host of that network’s Food Feuds.  He has been a critical player in the building of Cleveland’s top notch reputation on the national culinary scene and has led the Northeast Ohio region’s Midwestern & ethnically-based tastes and culinary trades to new heights of sophistication, creativity, and sustainability.

He has also helped to transform city neighborhoods such as Tremont and Downtown’s East Fourth Street District through his urban pioneering activities and food entrepreneurship.

Currently Maingate is working to rejuvenate its Wholesale Food District and is planning the design for a Farmers’ Market Place project that would serve as the centerpiece for its food-based economic development endeavors.

Michael will share his thoughts and observations on how Maingate and the Cleveland community can exploit these opportunities to make Northeast Ohio a healthy food center for America.
